has been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Here's a man in his
late 40's, senior pilot for US Air, large family---name is Merritt Brown, a
good man. Would like to ask that you include Merritt in your prayers asking
that in God's grace and to His glory, that Merritt be cured. Below is
information about why prayers for Merritt are really needed. Thanks. PG

Of the 29,000 Americans who this year will learn they have pancreatic
cancer, all but 100 will die within 12 months of diagnosis. While pancreatic
cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in the United States, it
is one of the least well-funded areas of cancer research.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to treat in that it
is undetectable by a physical exam, asymptomatic, and progresses quickly -
most patients die within 6 months of diagnosis. These factors also limit the
amount of data available for research, hindering significant advances in the
understanding of the disease.

On April 21, Steve Farrington's battle with cancer came to an end. Cheryl Jones and Ronnie Harris were able to visit him this past Sunday and said that Steve was not in pain and in good spirits. He was in a beautiful hospice facility where he had recently been moved.

There will not be a funeral or memorial service, so I have no address for cards. If you wish to honor Steve, donate to your favorite charity in his name. Remember him and his family in your prayers.

Christ" when Jim attended the University of Washington. Rod just had a
conversation with Jim and is passing on some prayer requests regarding

Dear Prayer Partners: I have a very special request to make of you
pertaining the upcoming release of Mel Gibson's movie, "The Passion of
the Christ" which will open nationwide on Wednesday, February 25. Back in
the late 1980's, I was on staff at University Presbyterian Church in
Seattle, WA primarily working with athletes at the University of
Washington. Among the athletes I discipled included two young JV
basketball players, Erik Carlson and Jim Caviezel. Today, Erik is a
successful financial planner and is one of our CTC (Character that
Counts) Associate Staff members. Jim
is one of Hollywood's young and rising stars, and he is playing the title
role of Jesus Christ in Mel's movie. This week, Jim and I talked by phone
with the help of Erik who remains one of Jim's closest friends and his
accountability partner. My conversation
with Jim this afternoon was almost 25 minutes long. Jim specifically has
asked for a lot of prayer because this movie is under attack as described
below.

Death Threats Against Mel Gibson, Jim Caviezel, who plays Jesus in the
Movie

I can't share all the details but I will tell you that there have been
current death threats towards Mel, Jim and others involved in bringing
this movie to the big screen. There are strong non-Christian movements
which have risen in recent days who are extremely hostile towards the
Gospel. There are lies being circulated among the media pertaining to
the film. And there are even special interest groups among "Christian"
leaders who are trying to remove certain aspects of the movie to better
align themselves
politically which would remove significant truth from the movie.
According to Jim, the film is not yet in final form .... it is still
being edited. Jim described an "intense" spiritual war which appears to
be spearheaded from Satan himself.

Calling the Body to Pray for These Needs

He is asking for the Body of Christ to fervently pray for the following:
(1) Strength and physical protection for Mel Gibson (director); Steve
McEveety (producer); Jim & the other cast members; and the team of
editors and production assistants who are trying to finalize the movie in
spite of the heavy spiritual warfare. (2) For the Christian community to
"show up" in force to view the movie and to invite EVERYONE to attend
with them. Jim stated, "This movie has the potential to bring the entire
world, including the non-religious to a saving knowledge of Jesus
Christ." (NOTE: Begin to pray right now for people you need to invite to
see the movie with you). (3) For the truth to be clearly communicated
among the media, special interest groups, denominational leaders, etc.
Because the film is in Aramaic, (there WILL be English Subtitles) even
the Muslim community will have an opportunity to hear the message of
Christ in a language which is common among many of them. This could have
profound implications worldwide.
(4) There are some countries (France included) who are not allowing this
movie to be presented to their people. Pray for a breakthrough into
places where the Gospel needs to be shared.

I asked Jim about what he had learned through playing the role of Christ.
He
said, "Two words: Unquenchable Fire." He has a passion burning in his
soul and believes this movie is the greatest movie ever made and it could
impact entire nations, including those most hostile to Christ's message.
Jim's prayer is that every person would view the movie for themselves and
then make a decision about Jesus Christ. Jim asked for my Prayer Team to
be notified of these requests and for this information to be forwarded on
to your specific prayer team. Jim is calling upon the Body of Christ to
help thwart the attack of the enemy. Please be fervent in this prayer on

Please pray for a young woman named Kelly. She has a four year old son, and has recently been reunited with her husband. Kelly has been undergoing treatment for leukemia and was scheduled for a bone marrow transplant in a few weeks. The last hurdle for the transplant was a series of tests to determine whether the leukemia is still in remission.

Today Kelly got the results from those tests. The leukemia is still active, and the doctors have given her about 1 month to live. When I talked to her and prayed with her on Sunday, she was very fearful of death. She professes to be a Christian, but her fear indicates at least some doubts about her eternal security.

Please pray for:

Kelly’s relationship with the Lord – that she would draw near and be assured of her eternal security in Jesus

Her physical needs – the Lord can heal her, despite the doctors’ prognosis

Her son and husband – that this MEGA TRIAL would draw them closer to the Lord and closer to each other

Her aunt and uncle – [with whom Kelly and her son have been living for some months (new Christians undergoing severe testing of their own)] for strength and God’s provision during this time.

I would like to add a prayer request on your site for my daughter, Libby, who just got information that she is HIV positive. She has hepatitis C, and a blood transfusion apparently caused the problem. Whatever the reason, she needs our prayers. She is a Christian, loves the Lord, and has a great attitude about it. She knows that the Lord's will must be done, and she is willing to take His Judgment. I ask all Christians to pray for her. She has had a very hard life, and her repentance and conversion to Christianity should be an inspiration to all.

There is a 15 month old baby at our church who has a hole in his heart valve. The doctors have tried to treat it with medicine, but no progress. He is now going to have valve replacement surgery, the doctors say there is no guarantee it will work, The last resort would be heart transplant. Would you please pray that God would heal the hole in his heart so there won't have to be any surgery. The baby's name is Ethan Yates, his parents are Wayne and Laura Yates. They attend Faith Baptist in Waller, TX.

Also could you please pray for the pastor and his family. They have been here for 3 yrs. Our church is a small country church, and we are growing. They need a home to put beside the church they are living with family right now. HE also works full time and pastors full time. Please pray God will make provisions for a home. They have been with their family for about a month now, before that they had to rent a house which was too expensive. Pastor Ralph Salinas and his wife Joy and two children Meagan 14 and son Zachary 13.

Urgently need prayers and financial help for liver transplant

My husband, Bobby Pullen, is in need of a liver transplant. We live in

Tulsa, OK and must fly to St. Louis to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in a five

hour span. I have taken a 40% cut in pay to keep my job and Bobby has had

to quit altogether because of his illness. We do have insurance through my

job, but the travel reimbursement is gone. It costs nearly $700.00 for each

trip and we have to go at least 5 times a year right now. We need prayers

and financial help. We are packed and ready to go, just waiting for the

can help us, please do so. I will be off work for at least three months

with our oldest son, Kelsy, who lives in Atlanta with wife Julie and

daughter Haley (almost 2 yrs old). He's having a devil of a time with pain

in his abdominal area---as we all know, power of prayer is very great, so we

ask that you please keep Kelsey in your prayers, that the doctors find the

source of the pain and are able to cure it successfully. Thanks much to all

Kelsey has been having some abdominal problems the doctors can't seem to get

to the bottom of; he's had multiple diagnostic tests, x-rays, even had his

gall bladder removed and yet he still has these attacks of severe abdominal

pain which on occasion have hospitalized him. Well on Tues am it happened

again and he went in the hospital; he is scheduled for a liver biopsy this

am (2nd one). Needless to say we are concerned and we are asking for you to

keep him in your prayers. Thanks so much for doing that.
